US Secretary of State Antony Blinken gives China a Green Light on Taiwan: RIP Taiwan Independence

    US Administration just sunk Taiwan...

Taiwan doesn't want independence right now. Recent elections, the current govt (which is pro independence) lost to the kmt (which doesn't want independence)

They know that'll provoke a war possibly.

    Status quo is good.

Gives us time to arm Taiwan more (we were reluctant to arm them before) and also get our navy in order with the constellation class frigates being built.

This is not a Greenlight for China.

It's just keeping things the way it is.

BTW us signed several base agreements with the Philippines close to the Taiwan strait.

Also Japan is building up naval and air bases on their islands near taiwan.

No way this ever turns into an armed conflict.

If it does, it's "goodbye world" to us all. That's why it won't turn into an armed conflict.

More proof that ***** is bought and paid for by both Ukraine and China. China told Blinken the U.S. must choose between cooperation or conflict, and he blinked. He said the U.S. does not support Taiwan independence. Yet we support Ukraine's independence? Will the ******** be waving Taiwan flags the way they do Ukraine flags in a show of support? *****'s shady business deals with China while VP will allow China to move on Taiwan in the next two years.

            Make up your mind already

You don't want war when it comes to Ukraine

But when it comes to Taiwan you want the US to defend them?

Just because *****'s administration does something, it doesn't mean you have to be against it. Be an American, not a fanboy of a politician

Taiwan is like Ukraine pre 2014

They want to keep the status quo. They're good the way it is. Every poll in Taiwan shows that

Now if China makes a move on them like Russia did on Ukraine in 2014 when they annexed Crimea, then their attitude might change and they might get ready for round 2 like Ukraine did

But as of right now, they think it will be like this forever and they want to keep it that way

Intel is investing heavily in new fab sites all over the world.

The whole world would suffer greatly if China invaded Taiwan, but I think if there's one entity who may benefit, it would be Intel.

With the world in rubble and Taiwan undersea, everyone would look to Intel to resupply the world with advanced chips.

There is more at stake with Taiwan. They produce over 60% of the world's semiconductors. You want China taking control of all of it? I don't want war with China, but there are ways to sanction them and hold them accountable. Blinken just said that China sends Mexico fentanyl "by accident". Really? Over 100K dead in my country from fentanyl overdoses, and I'm supposed to roll over for China? The same China guilty of far worse human rights violations than Russia. China has well over 3 million political prisoners in thousands of remote prisons in west China who are abused, ****d, tortured, starved and killed. Let's not pretend China did not intentional release COVID which was developed in a lab that our own government helped to fund.

You keep coming at me with these defenses of the U.S. involvement in Ukraine. I keep telling you the war in Ukraine does not affect me here in the U.S. While I sympathize with their plight, I'm sure you and the rest of the Eastern Europeans aren't concerned at all with the issues that negatively impact the U.S. like illegals pouring over the borders, fentanyl deaths, rising crime rates, homelessness, among other significant quality of life issues. Invading Taiwan has global consequences when the chips used in your computers, cars, phones, medical devices, etc., are all manufactured and controlled by China.

Why do you guys always think a war would lead to Armageddon?

Just like giving Ukraine weapons will lead to nuclear war right?
