Mexican cartels are brutal yes, but they are just pawns in this drug business. The USA dictates how long the boss of the mexican crime family can rule and what community the drugs will be released to when it gets to the USA.

The Cartels, easily btw. They have real weaponry and can compete toe to toe with the Mexican army in certain areas. Iirc the guys who formed the Sinoloa cartel were all a part of the Mexican military unit specially trained by the U.S and instead of combating crime they formed their own cartel.

Yup, Los Zetas from the Gulf Cartel have US Marine level training. The horror of it was when they started beheading and killing innocent civilians in the drug wars. And right now the CJNG with El Mencho as leader are becoming the most powerful criminal syndicate ever.
