If Floyd KO's & Dominates Cotto @154lbs is that better than Pacs win vs Cotto?

A year before the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto fight Cotto had got beat up & knocked out by Margarito, he then knocked out Jennings & after that he really struggled with Clottey. Then Pac fought him at a catchweight for his title @WW. Freddie Roach even made this comment right before the fight...“It doesn’t matter if Margarito cheated in the fight vs Cotto or not, a fighter is still not the same following a knockout like that,”

Now Mayweather is fighting Cotto & Miguel Cotto is coming off 3 knock out wins since the Pacquiao loss and Mayweather isn't fighting him at a catchweight. Mayweather is actually moving up in weight to challenge Cotto for his title.

So tell me IF Mayweather dominates Cotto and knocks him out.....which win will be more impressive, Pacquiao over Cotto or Mayweather over Cotto?

Not in my opinion. I think Cotto was closer to his prime when Pac fought him and Cotto while still a good fighter now is at the tail end of his career.

I personally don't think the weight makes a single difference for Floyd because as I've always said I don't think Cotto really belongs at 154 pounds, I think he only went up in weight because there was literally no one left to fight at 147 and the Foreman fight was a unique opportunity for him to become a champ again.

There is no real size advantage for Cotto fighting floyd at 154. Floyd can come in at 149 if he wants and it wont matter, imho.

I agree with Cotto being closer to his prime but what about his previous fights before he fought Manny? Can we not take those bouts into consideration? He looked terrible vs Clottey....

            No.

Floyd beat Hatton first and gets more credit for that. Pac still gets his due for beating a past prime-still good Hatton at 140 though, and rightfully so.

Cotto hasn't been prime since the 1st Marg fight in 2008. Since 2009-present day, he's been past his prime-still good. Pac still gets more for doing it first.

You also have to take the level of opposition for Cotto since getting destroyed by Pacquiao.

                Foreman, Mayorga & Margarito.

Foreman was the only real good win, since he was a title holder and highly ranked. Margarito was a revenge fight and a money fight. It was good for him to beat his ass, a feel good story, awesome for us fans, but lets be honest - margarito is done. Mayorga was also a money fight, just a name for Cotto to fight, nothing more, way past his prime.

So some of Cotto's imagine right now is simply good matchmaking. He's still a good fighter but I'm not sure he could last with the top guys at 154 or 147 anymore.

I agree with that ... even Foreman was not a great win because Foreman was fighting with one leg!

As for fighting at 154 ... it was rumored that Cotto wanted to initially fight Margarito at 150 and then settled with 153 ... so weight will not be the deciding factor here.
