Groves won a lot of fans over I guess, but I'm not sold..Esp against Froch, who has now seen Groves..I believe Groves is in trouble..
Froch is clearly not as skillful as Groves, I don't think that's a discussion at all. Froch has a good strong jab against guys with little head-movement, but if you put him in with a quick guy - it vanishes. See Groves, Dirrell, Ward.
I don't care how much Froch underestimated Groves in the first fight, he can't make himself a different fighter at the age of 37. He is what he is, and that's a really good, tough as nails, warrior. He needs to get stuck into Groves.

I've watched the first fight about 7 times. I would give a finger to have gotten the last 4 rounds, I imagine Froch taking it because Groves was getting hammered in the 8th and 9th (so was Froch but he was bull rushing THROUGH his punches.)
Btw. Froch later in the fight gets hit a lot of times, with that 1st round punch, question I'm asking is, if it hadn't hit in the first round, would he have gone down?
I don't think Groves was hammered in the 8th at all. it was a pretty even round in my opinion. and it went to Groves on all the judges scorecards I think. But Froch might have won, I won't deny that. But I'm not certain as I don't think Groves was THAT hurt.

His punches were sloppy and inconclusive and his best work probably came after the call of break - which doesn't count in my book.

I think Groves has more one-punch power than Froch. But I think Froch is 3-4 times as durable as Groves - which may then in turn make it out to seem like he has more power. But I don't think that's the case. And anyone who can drop Carl Froch like that has serious power. And not just that, make him run from the jabs on occassion and flinch by the faints.

why would Froch be tormented?
his only problem is the ref denied him a chance at a legit KO
stoppage was wrong, but a real one was coming
Froch is indeed a warrior; he's not finished until the final bell
Groves deserves props for how well he did in the 1st fight
but fighting well doesn't matter if you tire and get taken out later
think Froch will fight better this time and end it decisively by KO

Groves trash talk
I don't believe Groves has the street cred to publically dump the trash he's smacking. I think Froch (if he underestimated G at all) this time is going to toss the trash out with the little georgie boy! Froch has been to war with the best! He has the chin of chins (against Johnson, who is rock chin himself) and Groves is going to be exhausted before he is able to break the Cobra!

Both statements completely proven false, this kid really finds new ways to disrespect a guy who has taken the hard route through boxing. There was never really no easy fights since Froch hit the big stage, besides Mack, which came after a loss, so I can't disrespect that.
Froch did it the hard way, thanks to some horrific promoting from Mick Hennessy. Froch only got the recognition he deserved after the Bute performance and he was promoted by Sky and Eddie Hearn.Last edited by Grimmer; 04-09-2014, 03:06 PM.

Groves better upside
Groves, I believe, can do better in this rematch while I think Froch will be the same. Groves has to pace himself better and have better transitions between offense and defense. And must punch with Froch when the slower Froch goes for his attack and not look to turtle so much. Groves will always beat him to punch, he just to avoid fatigue and be smarter. And I believe he will do just that.
