Comments Thread For: Parker: I'm a Big Risk - Joshua Needs Over 65%, Rematch Clause

WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker (24-0, 18 KOs) is stunned by the recent position taken by promoter Eddie Hearn and his star fighter - IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (20-0, 20 KOs). The two sides have been negotiating the possibility of a unification showdown in early 2018, and they are trying to get on the same page when it comes to the money.

A big risk? Those requests are standard for someone that's over 10x the draw and the champ.

... “It seems like I am such a big risk that he needs more than 65 percent - and a rematch clause.” ...

Not surprising: Joshua is selling those tickets...

Accept Eddie Hearn's offer of just under a 70/30 split, and make over $10 million NZD. Or fight Lucas Browne for $1 million NZD. Joseph Parker is clearly trying to cash out solely off of being the WBO champion. Personally I think this fight doesn't really matter anyway. The real champion is the winner of Anthony Joshua vs. Deontay Wilder.

How does AJ or Deon Wilder have any more of a claim to world champion than Parker ? This should be interesting.

parker couldnt sell 10k tickets for ruiz

joshua sells tons of tickets vs anybody

and rematch clause is standard procedure

fight is obviously gonna happen next. this is all just negotiating and also some hype for casuals to gobble up, and sadly, for most people on nsb who actually follow the sport, to gobble up and debate like crazy because media and fans have become lazy to learn about the sport and talk about technical aspects of boxing and would rather talk about business side

probably will be 66-33 split, which is more than generous to parker

Did anyone see Hearn's latest IFL interview?

He said 65-35 was too much for Parker and 75-25 too low. So Hearn is obviously thinking about 70-30.

Parker should be biting Hearn's hand off to get 30% of the purse of an AJ fight. That's still a hell of a payday. It would take him about 5 fights to make that if he's lucky.

I have no doubt that this fight happens. They are both close to the % that they want. The issue would be Wilder, but we would see how big he gets by the time that fight comes around.

Its amazing how you stans excuse everything aj and Hearn does.
So now it's right to pay champions less than mandatories make? Okay! I saw everyone in the other thread everyone ignored Hearn saying he might just make the Whyte rematch. I guess that's fine too right? So how this works is AJ is fine to fight bums since he sells out crowds and both other champions want more money. You all aren't boxing fans, you're f@ggots in love with a man. Never seen men love men so much that they can't see any wrong they do. Like really are yall even this lenient with females? Probably not.

You ******s seem to think Parker and Wilder deserve more money for a bigger risk but Joshua should make less.

Why should Wilder and Parker make 10x what they usually make but Joshua barely break even with what he makes fighting Whyte?
