But let me make a point. He says he used "a term" and that's not the issue for a couple of reasons. First, there's no offensive term. I don't think I've ever met a white man who sees offense in "white boy." That's not an offensive term.

Second, and more important, is that it's not the term that is the issue, but the ideology behind the statement. If I slip up and use a term that is offensive, that's one thing. But, if I believe that one group of people is inherently better than all members of another group, then that is wrong regardless of what terminology I use.
He used the term "white boy" to refer to Loma, and by doing that, of course, he widened his opinion about Loma to make it about all white boxers, which is racist.

Imo, he didn't mean it like that and was led astray by a bad choice of words, rather than anything more sinister.

      He made a racist comment.

      He shouldn't have.

      He's apologised.

      Time to move on.

That's not an apology. That's damage control.

Yeah I'm not gonna accept a total non-apology like that.

Devin Haney has put his best foot forward in restoring the belief that he is wise far beyond his years. The unbeaten lightweight came under fire for comments made in a recent interview on the 78SPORTSTV YouTube channel, where the conversation turned to how he would fare versus three-division and reigning unified lightweight titlist Vasiliy Lomachenko.

I agree. Rereading my post it does seem like I'm implying he's racist, but that's not the case. I was just speaking in general there. Seems like he put his foot in his mouth, realized it, and is pulling it back out.

These guys are subject to their advisors and no-one amongst them wants to have their guy admit to making a racist comment. So the non apology is the best we're likely to get.

At least he'll hopefully think twice before seeking to make his next fight a race thing. That would be one positive result from this.

LOL. If you're ****** enough to make an ignorant comment like that at least have the balls to stand by it. Lost respect for this clown.

To be fair he was probably just mimicking 'Nard.

                    But yeah he's obviously ******

He was told to apologize, not smart to alienate a fan base with dumb comments. He still feels how he feels just knows not to say it publicly now.
