Maybe we should poke some reporters in the game to ask GGG directly, if his publicists arent gooning nearby, "hey Golovkin, since you had no problem fighting Rosado directly coming from 154, would you be interested in fighting Lara?"

Urging to hear Golovkin respond, "ju know, why not, this is boxing. I want to fight the "best" ju know maybe future...who knows...we'll see.."

They said this..... " anyone from 154-168 ".

And, how many guys has Golovkin fought outside 160 ?

They could have fought Ward, they could have fought Canelo, and they could have fought Cotto.

EVERYONE is willing to cut off one of their fingers to fight Canelo and Cotto.

      But..... 0.

More importantly, HBO with the sniping gun press of GGG and Lemieux agreeing to some late VADA testing and for what publicity benefit? You had HBO Lampley promoting commentary about VADA all strategically during the Vargas and Bradley fight saying it was the cleanest thing in boxing yet Lampley didn't say anything about it during the Lemieux broadcast. Lol

Of course HBO... why GGG's head all inflated post career... lol. HBO suckering people

But I have a feeling that GGG and HBO want more than Gennady to simply become a small cult hero. They have visions of him crossing over and becoming a mainstream star. But before he can crossover, he needs to win the hardcore community first. The Lemieux fight shows that the hardcore community isn't completely sold on, or backing GGG. That's where a guy like Lara comes in. If he goes out and beats Lara convincingly, which no one has. The hardcore community, even his biggest critics, will have no choice but to say this guy is more than an HBO creation. I mean, its not like he has anything better going on in Apr.

Nobody can beat Lara in "convincing" fashion. We will give him that much. Either you win a boring decision going after him and winning by default - as Canelo did because Lara wasn't doing much offensively himself.

OR you score a lucky knockout after chasing him (i.e. struggling) for 6 or 7 rounds. If that happened, someone might say that GGG got exposed for "struggling" with him. Lara is the kind of guy you simply do not need to fight unless he brings something to the table, I.E. a belt, a mandatory position, or selling tickets (which he doesn't).

Ahhh! Loeffler you rogue kidster you! Get off that keyboard mate!

It would be devastating if Lara became a 2 division champ coming from the Super WBA 154 and then stealing the Super 160 WBA and IBF! I don't think Lara cares about that IBO doe. Just saying..

Far cry from all the b1tch'n and moan'n you did back in the day about Floyd's opponent selection. What happen to your "real champions fight em all" approach to following the sport?

Why would Triple G fight Lara? He lost to Carlos Molina and Paul Williams was losing to Vanes and lost every round running to Canelo..get lost with Lara... he sucks..if Lara were White, you wouldn't even bring him up..so stop it...

And that was coming off a loss, against a mediocre opponent, with no titles on the line. That's having a casual fanbase. If you believe the most generous reports (which I don't), GGG managed only half that in a "unification" fight.

As for being stripped reflecting badly on Canelo. Maybe, maybe not. Personally, I have a feeling that Oscar and Arum plan on matching the Pac-Bradley winner against Canelo in Sept. And if that happens, he'll get backlash in the hardcore community. But among casuals, that will be a bigger fight, especially if its Manny.
GGG has a casual fan base which is growing with every fight. Most of them live outside the USA though, so they don't watch his fights on HBO PPV.

                      That is exactly right.

They don't want to risk looking bad, and they don't want to risk failing to put him away.

That would completely crack Golovkin's aura, considering that Lara would be Golovkin's first world-class opponent and a significant underdog.
